Did You Know? Deep Purple was one of the first Western rock bands to perform in Indonesia in 1975 and they weren't originally scheduled to even play there. They had been playing several shows in Australia and their next stop was in Japan. However, a promoter in Indonesia reached out and convinced the band to make a stop in Indonesia for around $11k going to the band. However, this turned disastrous when it led to the death of roadie Patsy Collins, false imprisonment of one of the band managers, and being held up at gunpoint at one point during their time. Ultimately, this led other bands to avoid playing in the country at all costs.
